Staffordshire ACO is one of 40 associations which make up the ECB ACO across England, Wales and ICC Europe. These are grouped into 5 geographical regions; we are part of the Midlands region – ECB ACO Website
The aims of the association are to foster interest in umpiring and scoring; to further the interests of cricket by instruction and examination; to assist all members, if required, to progress to the highest level through the ECB ACO Performance and Potential Programme; and to maintain and promote friendly relations with all cricket organisations.
We aim to help officials (both scorers and umpires) develop their skills and importantly ensure that they enjoy officiating, in order to enable and prepare them to officiate competently in Ladies and Men’s cricket along with Youth and Seniors Cricket. We offer a range of ECB approved courses, face-to-face and online, enabling officials to begin at entry level officiating in schools, youth and club matches and progressing if they wish, to league panels and senior level cricket. In order to further help officials further develop their skills we offer the opportunity for them to be paired with a “mentor” or be watched and advised by an off field observer.
We also work very closely with Staffordshire Cricket Ltd (County Board) in the recruitment of officials. Details of current courses on offer can be found at: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) – The Official Website of the ECB
Within Staffordshire we have three branches who all meet on a regular basis:

North Staffordshire ACO
Burton & District ACO
Each branch holds a number of members’ meetings throughout the year, which enable officials to meet, socialise and discuss any issues they may have with their colleagues in a relaxed manner.
